24Hour Comics Day = WICKED TITS!!!!

So,

The other day, I participated in my first 24Hour Comics Day. Over all: awesome.

The best part was getting to meet and hang out with other comics creators. Until the other day, I only knew a handful of people like myself who wrote and drew comics. Second best would have to be the actual experience of generating an illustrated story in 24 hours. I was forced to make up something on the spot, and I ended up doing a number of things that I'd never done before.

In the past, my stories have always featured relatively unchanged settings. This story started in one setting (in this case a vast, grassy field with a tree in the middle of it) and by the third page, the setting had been completely torn up and rearranged (tree cut down, giant hole created, etc..) It was the same for the main character of my story. He had, by the fifth page, been completely transformed.

I guess for the reader, or audience member this isn't terribly exciting and probably expected for an interesting story, but for an artist, taking something you've spent some time creating, and deconstructing it or altering it is pretty fascinating stuff and, depending on the artist, can be a big step outside of our comfort zone. I would suggest that anyone doing sequential art try this out, or at least try it out more often, if only just for practice.
